I made my first salve tonight using EVOO, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Shea Nut Butter and an EO Blend called Immune Boost which is a mix of Peppermint, Tea Tree, Rosemary, Myrtle and Spruce Essential Oils. Created to help support your immune system, with it's antiviral, atiseptic, antimicrobial and stimulant properties. I probably didn't put quite enough in because I'm so shy of scents but I love how it feels. I made it for my Mom and for a close friend of mine who is living with Cancer. Her chemo treatments cause her cuticles to tear and she hasn't found anything that helps. I'm hoping this will give her some comfort....

At any rate I love this stuff!!!! It makes my skin so soft and feels so moisturized! I plan on getting into this stuff more because it feels so good.... :p

I am sure it will make them feel better twice over...........once because it is great, second because you made it for them with just the right amount of love added.

.....what Digit said....seems that everything you do Lindy, you do with love....that is why, I am sure, your soaping adventure is so successful :D

Tanya :)

very nice.

you actually did the right thing by going light on the scent - many chemo patients cannot tolerate any scent (so consider making an unscented batch as well maybe).

Thanks everyone.... I am so finding all of these products making me want to stretch myself to try more.... and more.... and more....

An alternative to scent is to infuse your EEOO with the herbs. You will actually get more of the medicinal benefits that way.

Thanks Mandolyn! I have some botanicals sitting in oil right now to see if I can create anything from it - now I'll try some of my herbs too.

Oops, that was supposed to be EVOO, but you got it. I love infused oils, & you can use them in so many ways.

I don't know how well you know your herbs, but you can stream-line your salves just by changing which herb-infused oils you use. It's such an easy thing to do, & you get such great results.

Something I've learned recently is that using the plant to infuse oils will give you a different chemical make-up than using the EO, & you get even a different chemical make-up when you distill the same herb & make a hydrosol.

OK, I'd better quit there, because I could very easily divert this thread to herbs!

I have wanted to make my own salves since I am allergic to bacitracin and other antibiotic oitments....I mean nasty scary rash that I have to get medicine for.

I thought a nice salve of tea tree might do the trick. I also have a bunch of antibiotic herbs to infuse in oo.

How did your salve turn out? I was thinking instead of beeswax to use candellia wax. Do you guys think that would work ok?

My friend who has the cancer reported back today on the salve and said that the sore on her fingertips that wouldn't heal for 5 weeks are now healing since she started to use the salve. I'm not going to take her testimonial for the website because I don't want to cross that line between cosmetic and drug....but I did want to share it with all of you!

Wooohooo!!! Well done!! :D

Good Job!

That's wonderful, Lindy!
Joanne mentioned Tea Tree Oil. I love the stuff! I personally think it's great for those reasons! I have been using it on my DH, DSs, DD and myself for years!

It disinfects their cuts (read it's known to kill staph and safer than the only other way - bleach). It soothes (it's naturally menthalated). And it promotes fast healing (my personal opinion).

I like the combination of EO's you used for the salve, Lindy!
I'm sure it smells heavenly!
That's such a kind thing to do! I am sure they really appreciated it and felt very much cared for!

Hi Erin - thank you.... :) This friend is one of my biggest supporters and I'm pretty sure she runs the peanut gallery for me...

It does feel good to be able to give her something that makes her FEEL better - she has been living with cancer now for 4 years and she's been going through this last episode for the about 2 years and it's not getting better. We're on a waiting game but she is the type of person who will direct that game and I love her for it! :D

Lindy, do you mind telling me where you purchased your immune boost EO blend from?
