Congrats on your first batch! My husband is still weirded out by lye even after I've made 3 batches. He insists on me wearing his giant lab goggles instead of me just buying a pair of the goggles on Brambleberry that look so much more comfortable. Be sure to post pictures after you cut!

AND I want a picture of you in those goggles! LOL

Badger - The soap is done curing. I found out about olive oil adulteration while waiting. I looked up the oil I used and found it is NOT pure olive oil. So I have no clue what kind of soap I have but it is very nice on the skin. It leaves my feeling clean but soft.

I am glad that you found out about your Olive Oil, sorry that it turns out it was not pure. It is sad to hear what companies do.

I had grown too comfortable using lye and just last week I got a small burn on my wrist where my gloves had rolled down a bit. Nothing major, just a reminder. So yes you have to respect the lye! I remember when I was using ziplock bags to pipe soap frosting and I wasn't wearing gloves because I figured my hands were safe holding a plastic bag. I was wrong. The soap ate through the bag and I ended up with burns on my thumb and fingers. Another lesson learned. But I no longer feel that my kitchen is going to explode when I add my lye to my water or that drug enforcement officers are going to come crashing through my door when I get my bottle of lye out of the closet.......lol!
