soap

that's great to hear, congrats! now where's the pics? how pink did it get? did you find it easy to cut, and did yours gel?

LOL!! You must have posted that while I was editing my post above to include my pics.

I had to send them to flickr, I couldn't get the uploader thingy to work.

I haven't cut it yet. It's firming up nicely, a little slower than regular cp, tho.

Ohhh.....yummy!!! So creamy and delicious looking! You should be so proud of yourself :D

Did you find the whipped soaping process easy? I have been chatting to one of the whipped soap masters (Nizzy) and he has given me some great tips, though I would love to hear your ideas.....why not post a sort of short diary tutorial here......?

Tanya :)

It was cold yesterday, so I mixed up my lye & water and sat it outside for a couple hours.

I spooned out my oils and let them sit, too. 9 oz lard, 4 oz crisco, 2 oz coconut oil, 1 oz castor oil.

Everything was sitting while I chowed down on Thanksgiving dinner.

I used a hand blender for about 10 minutes on the oils and then added the lye/ water misture a little at a time, whipping completely in between. Mixed for another 10 minutes or so, added FO, whipped thoroughly. Put a little bit of the mixture in a bowl and added baker's choc melted in a little tiny bit of lard.

I used my little plastic cheese box mold lined w/wax paper, covered it with plastic wrap and let it sit until this afteroon. I'll probably wait until Sunday to cut it., it's still quite soft. Perhaps I should have left in it the mold longer, but I was too excited!!

I love the look of your soap - it turned out very nice! Whipped soap is on my list of soaps to try making next.

soap

great pics! god job on the soap! since i started rtcp i just cant bring myself to go back to c/p! one thing i love about it is you can use the f/o's that seize in the rtcp-you have more time to work with them.

love your camera-it takes nice clear images...may i ask what kind it is, please?

Beautiful! Do you use the same basic recipe for regular soaps to do this? From your post I gather it nereds to be worked quite cold? I really want to try that one.

TIA

Lard, crisco, coconut oil, and castor oil.

I used Cocoa Therapy FO that I recently bought from a forum member. I used melted baker's chocolate to color the top layer, I didn't put anything in the rest of it, but it turned a lovely shade of pale pink.

It smells WONDERFUL!!!!

Thats a beautifull looking soap.Congratulations.
I shall be able to do some soon as I just picked my old cake mixer up because when I shifted I said I would never used it.I hadn't since about 1979. A neigbour said she would take it rather than it go to the tip even tho she had one.I had so much stuff to shift, throw out ,give away. That was May this year. How did I know I would be seriously inflicted with the soap making bug shortly there after? So I was lucky with that one.

Same ingredients as my basic recipe, but more hard oils, such as lard and crisco. Firm oils whip better.

Yes it needs to be processed cold. I'm amazed at how that works at all.

Give it a try and let us all know how it goes.

Thank you! I'll let you know - I just finished doing a whipped soap using re-batch and I'm pleased with it. I'll post pictures after I cut it.

Cheers

Beautiful soap! I can't wait to try whipping too. I am finally pulling it all together here for the arts and crafts show on the 6th and 7th, so whipping will be on my next up list of thing to do. Yours looks very creamy and smooth enough to want to eat!

whipped soap is sooo easy. If you have ever made icing, or decorated a cake, then its a breaze. My first batch, I made the cupcakes. I took one to work, and people actually thought that it was real.[/img]

Thi photos, we want the photos.

here are some of them. The other "desert" is something that my family likes. I was please with how life like they acutally look. Plus, whipped soap floats. I think any kid would LOVE to take a bath with floating cupcakes. My hubby says that I can not give the cupcakes to his family. He is thinking that his one brother will actually try to eat them.

p.s the pie I am saving to make for next year christmas gifts.

I have found that if you warm the blade of the knife up for each slice, you will have very nice smooth sides on the soap .No breakage, slivers, or splinters. Just make sure that the soap is hard enough on the inside also when you do cut. It took about three days for the cupcakes to be firm enough on top to touch without leaving a mark.
