Hi,

I made a batch of honey and oat soap from this recipe

900ml water
295g caustic soda
615g trex/crisco
800ml sunflower oil
800ml olive oil

It has been sitting out of mould for about 3 weeks, but uncut. The instructions from the recipe were to leave it to the 6-8 week stage and then cut it. I was eager and cut it today.

It has a a chalky edge and is quite crumbly (photo below). We only want this for personal use, rather than selling, but will it be safe to use when it is fully cured?

Plus any tips for avoiding this in the future?

I ran your recipe through SoapCalc and it showed 285 grams lye and 841 grams water. Your soap looks lye heavy to me.
