Hi all!

I made my first batch of soap last night. It's a little more crumbly than I thought it would be. And I tried a sea foam colorant and it just looks ugly. Lol!

Here's the recipe I used:
40 oz extra virgin olive oil
10 oz coconut oil
16 oz distilled water
6.9 oz lye

I added .5 ml of lemon essential oil. We tried hot process in a crock pot and it took a while to cool off enough to be able to add the EO.

Congratulations on your first batch! Looks pretty good.

I had a crumbly batch of 100% castile a while back. Turns out it was the olive oil I had. I bought a brand I wasn't familiar with. It must have been adulterated or going bad. Don't know. When I made my next batch I was sure to use my usual tried and true olive oil and my soap turned out just right. So it could be the brand you are using.

Another thought is using the crockpot. How long was your cook? What was your setting? If you overcooked it or overheated it that could dehydrate the batter a lot.
