I just took a first attempt goatmilk, oatmeal and honey soap out of the frig and then out of the wooden mold. ( it was in the frig in the mold for 24 hours)As I cut it into bars it crumbled somewhat. When I look at the bar it is a pretty golden color but there are pockets of white areas that seem separate, like it didn't mix or something. I wrote a previous message regarding my milk/ lye mixture not heating up, is this connected. I want to try the same recipe again....but need pointers as I have no idea where to go from here.

What was the perctage of lye? Did you put it through the soap calc? The crumbling is a sign of too much lye, does it zap your tongue? The pockets could be lye or they could be fat deposits from the milk.

I sometimes get crumbling when I try to cut it too soon and it hasn't firmed up enough, particularly when using milk instead of water.

But combined with areas that are white, I don't really know.
