I planned a three color funnel pour today scented with baby powder FO. Got my batter separated and colored (blue mica disappeared, went peachy) then realized I forgot the scent.
Added scent to all the containers, stirred it in good and by the time I got back to the first one, it had turned solid. It was soft enough I could still smoosh it up so plans changed. Dumped the blue and pink into a loaf mold, broke it all into pieces then poured the still somewhat liquidy white over it all.

I had checked the FO website, nothing was said about it accelerating trace. Really disappointed that I wasn't able to make my funnel pour but since the blue went weird, I guess its ok.

My second ever batch of soap did the same thing, I used a honey chamomile fragrance oil and added real honey. I got a similar oily mess, but didn't know what I had done wrong at the time so just threw the whole lot out.

It turned into a overheating, greasy mess so I ended up HP it. Its just a plain pinkish color now. The FO was from save on scents.

Bummer :-x Did you check the scent review board to see if there were any writeups there? I've checked out save on scents once or twice before to see what they have and noticed not too many reviews on their website.

I have the same fo but from a different supplier. I think i better do a test bar 1st then. I really like the smell tho.
Last time i had a fast trace fo (dove type from big tree supplies), i just dump some water to make it more workable. I did discount the water and shouldn't have since it was a floral, but it worked out in the end.

Sorry your initial design did not work out, but at least it's still a usable soap now.

I've just started to work with FO and last weekend I had the same happen. No swirl...just a goopy mess. HP this weekend. I'm so glad that I waited to work with FOs. They are not easy! This was only my third attempt at working with them.

Some FO's are so tempermental. I had suprises, especially when I try to do my due diligence on checking them out. Sorry that happend to you. I'm sure it will still smell nice.

It was mere moments. I didn't check the scent review board but I did check the save on scents web site and it got good reviews. This was my first time using their scents. I was given 18 bottles of FO, not sure if I will use any of the others.
The scent of this soap is so, so. It smells like baby powder but also kind of plasticy and fake. Not sure what I'm going to do with 2 lbs of ugly pink, weird smelling soap.

Just use 'em as embeds for another batch if you hate it so much.

I have several fo's from SOS and they soap just fine. Like any company some fo's just go instant soap-on-a-stick. When using a new fo I usually do a single color if I am not in the mood of testing. My experience has always been when working with instant accelerated soap it simply will not work to mix it with the unaccelerated soap. I really think it has to do with gel timing of the two and/or the accelerated was not emulisified well. When I get instant severe accelerated soap I let it stay in the bucket until it starts to gel then I can emulisify it back into a workable batter. I do keep a master batch of oils for testing so I just have to pour a few oz out and mix my lye for testing. Saves stress!
