I've been soaping for about 9 months now. I haven't really achieved that smooth gentle bar of soap that I want. I've tweaked my formulations and wanted to know what others think.

Castor 5%
Coconut 15%
Olive: 37%
Palm oil: 25%
Rice Bran: 10%
Shea:8%

Superfat 7%

According to SoapCal, the conditioning is at 60% which is beyond the recommendation range.

I'm also having trouble with understanding the terms between conditioning and cleansing. I've read the what it means but still not able to grasp the concept, maybe my brain is failing me.

Thank you to everyone !

60% conditioning is in the recommended range. I prefer high conditioning soaps and low cleansing soaps, which is what this recipe looks like it'll be.

Can I ask what your old recipe that you don't like is? Also, how long are you letting your soaps cure before using them to test their gentleness?

Oops, I must have read the wrong line. You are correct, Genny.

My old recipes were simliar this formulation, but CO was high. I used CO at 20%, 25%, and at 27%. Shea butter was first used at 10%, then I adjusted to 5% and 12%. And the PO and OO were what normally used give or take 5%. The previous recipes I used left my skin squeaky clean. I didn't like that. I let my soap cure for the full 6 weeks.

Do you think this is an okay formulation?

Thanks Genny, I went ahead and made and will wait for it to be fully cured.
