Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and am currently developing some shaving products. I know this sounds crazy, but I am looking for some fragrance oils with short-lasting scents. I want something that will dissipate rather quickly (15 mins or less) so it won't interfere with any aftershaves or colognes. Suggestions are certainly welcome.

Thanks!

IME if you use the recommended amount of FO then it won't linger for very long. I have used an assortment of different ones and have never had an issue with them competing with cologne.

How do I know what the recommended amount is? You'll have to forgive me, I'm new to fragrances

Skatergirl is correct, check your manufacturer's recommendations. General rule of thumb for fragrance oils is .5 - 1 ounce of fragrance per lb. of oils, but there are exceptions. For essential oils, about .5 ounce per lb. of oils. If you want a lighter scent, you could go down to .25 or .3 oz PPO.

Generally scent from lye-based soap does not linger on the skin.

As previously stated check with your supplier for usage rates. As for soap, it's a wash off product so not much remain as far as scent. I've only come accross a few that actually linger.
