I am thinking of making a facial soap and was wondering how high should cleansing be for facial soap.

Thanks! :D

It depends on your skin. Some people need a high cleansing soap, such as me, other people need a less cleansing bar. There are just so many variables.

Exactly! I need a less cleansing bar in the winter because my skin is so darn dry . . . then in the summer I need something a lot more cleansing.

Would this soap be for yourself? If so then you can totally customize it to your needs!!! If you have oily skin, then a soap high in CO would be good. If you have super dry skin then OO and castor oil would be better. Think Clinique . . . they have different ingredients and formulas for each type of skin :)

I would be making this for myself and i sometimes have oily skin, then at times it can feel almost dry.

In that case I would probably suggest trying a basic oil blend first. Right now my favorite facial blend is 40% olive oil, 30% coconut oil, 25% palm oil, and 5% castor oil with a 10% superfat and tsp clay ppo. This blend is a little high on coconut oil for both my mother and sister but it is perfect for me.

You could always make two batches of soap ;) A high cleansing one for the daytime and a highly conditioning one for night.

It sounds like you have combination skin . . . which I have no clue what combo of oils would be good  Come on soapers, we need ideas!!!
