I just learned that evaporated milk is milk with 60% of the water removed. Has anyone tried using it in CP soapmaking? I'm inclined to try it by first dissolving lye in distilled water, letting it cool thoroughly, and then stirring in the evaporated milk. The result, in theory, would be a lye solution the consistency of whole milk and easier to do than adding the NaOH directly to milk and trying to keep the temperature down.

Thoughts? Feedback?

That's probly how I would do it. Not saying it'll behave and all though.

You can trying adding a couple of ounces at trace, depending on how big a batch of soap you are making. I do it this way with cow's cream. I just deduct the amount of cream I am using from the liquid and dissolve the lye in distilled water, adding the cream at trace. You don't run the risk of scorching your milk that way.

When I use cream I put it in at trace - using water to do my lye mixture. The cream is wonderful in the soap I gotta say!

Cheers

How much cream pp do you put in, or do you calculate it in as a part of the water. I have had no luck with any kind of milk soaping and they stink. I've tried soy milk in place of water, and I've added yogurt, at trace. No luck. Now, I want to try cream.
