I have on hand a bunch of essentials from Whole Foods. I am not sure the brand, but these are steam distiled and in jojoba oil. I assume these are the same ones that can be used in soapmaking?

I've used the little bottles of essential oils from Whole Foods, when I've wanted to play with a new scent for a small batch of soap (or, to be perfectly honest, when I've been too impatient to wait a week for a shipment from a soap making supply company...Whole Foods is literally down the hill from my apartment). Worked just fine. Very expensive compared to buying in larger bottles from a supply house, though.

These will not be full strength if they are cut by jojoba oil. Unless I know the percentage of essential oil to jojoba oil, I really can't give you a figure to use. I would contact the company and ask what percentage of e.o. was in each mixture.

Oh I feel so dumb. Thanks for catching that, lsg. I've only used the regular essential oils from Whole Foods, not those suspended in jojoba oil. Sorry, I'm no help (and should learn to read more closely).

Ok, so I have 1/3oz in a bottle of Frankenscence. Its left over something else. I looked into EO from Brambleberry and patchouli was around $30 for 2oz. I read recipes using 2 or more oz of EO. I assume these oils are more potent than one EO cut from jojoba?

Are the EO for soapers much more concentrated?

Yes, EOs from BB are supposed to be pure undiluted.

Patchouli is one of the strongest (and expensive). You do not say the size of your batch, but 2 oz goes a long way. I use it as a base note, and I only use around 0.05 oz PPO.

You may get by if you have an ounce of Patch. as it is very strong. Frankenscence is not that strong a scent, so I would probably use that one in lotion.
