A few weeks ago I made a nice lavender eo gm soap but I screwed up molding so I just set it aside to rebatch. But I think what I want to do rather than rebatch is to shred some of it into varying particle sizes and add it to a 1/2 batch of fresh gm. I thought I'd color the fresh batch and have these white shreds running throughout for a cool stone/granite effect. What I'm wondering is.... 1) will the shredded embedded lavender still contribute much fragrance to the finished soap and 2) what should I scent the new batch? The only eo's I have left on hand are clary sage, rosemary, lemongrass, and peppermint. (I did comb the archives but my head is swimming...what are your favorite combos?) Any comment on amount of eo to use for the new batch would be appreciated too...I figure the new batch will be about 37 ounces oil.

Lemon & peppermint is really nice. So is rosemary, with a touch of sage and lavender. I would add in some extra lavender if you want it to predominate. I do not find that shreds add a lot of fragrance unless you are using a large amount

Yeah I forgot to say I have 26 oz of strongly scented lavender gm...to 37 ounces oil in the new batch. Don't know if that qualifies as a large amount.

My vote is for lemongrass, as well. Sound like a cool effect that you are going for. Pics?

One of my fav mixes is lavender, rosemary and peppermint. Sounds weird but smells awesome. Everyone that has a whiff loves it.

What proportion of rosemary/peppermint/lavender would you use?

I go with peppermint as the top note and then equal parts lavender and rosemary so 2:1:1. I normally would go with a 4:2:1 ratio but the lavender and rosemary fight it out nicely in equal parts and it just works out well. I played with ratios and did a few blends with these 3 and that was the mix that got the most thumbs up (for me anyway). Good luck with whatever you decide, sounds cool.
