Easy recipe for making liquid Castile soap

:? Hi. I am looking for a fooland idiot proof recipe for making liquid Castile soap so that I may make other products like shampoos etc. I have had 2 flops so far, but I think it is due to 2 factors:

1. I have been using Sodium Chloride instead of Potassium Chloride

2.the recipes I used had cup measures,which I followed and the mixtures never traced. had to dump my raw material.

I don't think either sodium or potassium chloride are going to do it for you. For liquid soap you need potassium HYDROXIDE. I know there are some great books on liquid soap out there - perhaps look in your library. Also read at millersoap.com for soapmaking in general.

And buy a scale!

Sorry, I meant KOH Potasium Hydroxide.

I have trawled the Net for recipes, but the idea of posting my request on the forum was to perhaps obtain one from the specialists in the field.

I hope that I wont be proved wrong.

Well, here's where you ARE wrong - people who work hard of formulas don't just hand them out like candy on halloween. What we do is provide guidance and advice based on our experiences and YOURS. With the occasional recipe thrown in.

HOWEVER, since true castile is olive oil soap - I am happy to tell you my recipe: 100% olive oil. Fit it into a lye calculator for liquid soap such as the one at summerbeemeadow.com and have at it! :roll:
