Just a note----I don't feel that most of us are judgemental. IMO, we are one of the more friendly forums around. I have found that if I give myself time to really think about what a poster is trying to convey, rather than letting myself become angry, I will most likely see that the message was not meant of offend. Most of us are happy to help a new soaper, but if we think someone is trying to profit from our experimentation and hard work, then we are not likely to be so helpful. Give us another chance and I think you will find that we are generally a friendly and helpful bunch.

Good morning, anyone have any dog soap recipes please? Thanks in advance.

I sell Doggie soap, basic lard bar 8% SF, scented with Citronella and Cedarwood. PH of dog's skin is irrelevant. I recommend only bathe the pupper once a month. Many customers comment on how much better bar soap than commercial dog shampoo which doesn't rinse out.

To those of you who said I should go and do some research - what do you think I am doing by asking on here? I regularly check Google for information and other website on the Internet - as well as here. This was another leg of my research. I am just surprised that so many seem to think I do nothing and expect you all to supply my needs. This is not true. I have researched dog soap recipes and this was part of my research. People are asking me for soap for their dogs. I do not have a dog.

As for my business soap recipes, that was the same, research and more research. I have never asked for any recipes for my cold process soaps. I have supplied a couple of recipes and asked what you thought of them. I have just re-read each of my previous posts, going right back to my first post last year. If you do the same you will see that asking for a dog soap recipe is the FIRST time I have asked. Even if you gave me a recipe, I have already found many on Google and I am making comparisons and reading between the lines before I formulate one myself.

Please stop being such a judgmental lot!

I know it's easy to post a "hey, I want this recipe" post, but something to take into consideration is that we don't know your research. A more defined starting post will get you better results and less "judgement" to begin with. It saves us a lot of time determining what kind of information you want, and what you need to know. For example, starting a thread with... I have customers who wish to use handmade soap on their dog. I have looked on Google and it seems that [insert relevant research information here] may work best for their needs. I don't have a dog of my own, so I would appreciate some input from soapmakers for formulating a recipe.

Something like that would get you much further than your initial post did. As has been stated, we are a friendly group - but you have to allow us to guide you. We can't do that if we don't know what you know, what the situation is, and what information you are truly looking for. I'm sorry that your experience in this post has been less than you expected, it's a lot of assumptions on both ends, leading to completely unnecessary drama.

I'm odd man out because I used to use Pine Tar soap on my dog who had allergies to I swear everything in the yard. Never seemed to bother her -my bigger issue was leaving the bar outside and finding teeth marks in it!
