I always use corn starch with citrus EO's if I want the aroma of a single EO.
You can also use Litsea Cubeba (May Chang), but I find that it usually overpowers the other EO or at the very least alters the aroma. Cinnamon and Clove are also good anchors, but again alter the final aroma.

Definitely yes, or you can try to hp it, that's what I did and mine is okay so far!

I cp'd a castille lime soap maybe 4 months ago and the scent is VERY faint and bitter. It's not a good smell imo. It cured to stinky :shock:

I've had so-so success using litsea EO as an anchor for lemon and lime EOs, you just have to be mindful that too much litsea can and will completely take over the blend. Use a small amount, take what you think you'd need and then start with half (or less) of that. I also did a lemongrass/lime blend that smelled okay and seemed to stick better than lime alone, but I just sniffed the QC bar and it's almost completely gone at 6 months old, there's just a faint scent left and that's almost 100% lemongrass with "something weird" underneath it, not lime at all.

Personally I've given up on citrus EOs and am in the process of testing various FOs that are reported to stick, trying to find those magical ones that last in soap but don't smell like citrus scented toilet cleaners. The scent review board has been an absolute lifesaver, kept me from wasting a bunch of money on stinky/fading FOs.

I've done lime and patchouli, lime alone, lime and litsea, but the litsea does overpower.....but the best seller was, and still is for me: lime and ginger eo's. Very fresh.

I have not had any problems anchoring citrus EO's since I started adding corn starch to my soap. 1 TBS corn starch ppo does the trick, but I imagine you would have to work at fairly cool temperatures. I add the corn starch to some of my oil, add the EO and then mix this into the bulk of my oil before adding the lye.

I think I need to try that one as I am getting bored with my "regular" blends.

I have checked on Rainbow Meadow's blend calculator, Woodi. They suggest 1:1 Lime/Ginger, but that seems like an awful lot of Ginger.

yes, Magiadellaluna (nice nickname!).....I use less than half the amount of ginger to the lime amount.

for the last blend I made soap with, I melted together 49 ounces of oils, and the eo amounts were 1.55 oz lime (I was trying for 1.5 but my hand slipped) and .55 ounces ginger eo. So.....that's 1 to 3?

You must try it, very refreshing! I think I'll make up a batch today, but double the oils cuz it was such a fast seller.

Now I'm wondering: will doubling the oils and the eo's change the scent much? Off to experiment......will report back.

BTW: this scent seems to hold very well . I had made the batch of 15 bars in March, sold out by mid-May. I'm not sure if I can keep it around long enough to do a proper long-term test! lol. Perhaps I'll keep one bar back, just for sniff-testing.
