I, in all my tired and infinite wisdom decided that before bed this morning (have to work the night shift this week), I would measure out the next batch of soap I need to make. I have to get it made so it's usable in about 2 weeks.

So, I opened up my trial version of SM3 (awesome by the way) and concocted a nice bar that included PO, CO, OO, Castor, Mango. I got the superfat set and set my additives which were coconut milk powder, evaporated milk, banana puree, FO, sodium lactate, and if time permitted, a little canary liquid color.

So far, so good. I got my lye amount and the water amount needed and commenced to mixing my solution. There's nothing wrong with that now, is there?

I came back to the computer and thought, "Self...you are an idiot." I had not yet seen fit to whether or not I had the right amount of any one of the oils I entered. Well, I knew I had mango butter and olive oil in ok amounts, but the castor and coconut were in question. I had my question answered when I emptied my vessel of CO and found I was about 3 oz. short. Oh, dang...now what can I sub. NOTHING! I had nothing of a close enough SAP.

So, I spent the next two hours (primarily because I am tired as heck and a bit off my rocker by now) and recalculated the most ridiculous recipe just to get back to the lye solution values I had previously. After some serious juggling, I came up with a cocoa butter-heavy recipe ( I know...go ahead and roll your eyes at this horrible waste, but I never use the dang cocoa butter I buy, so no time like the present)that will either make me or break me on this tropical madness that I have embarked upon. I am using coconut milk powder and coconut FO.

I am set to do the one process that eludes me, CPHP, only because of my time constraints.

This endeavor shall re-commence when I am awake about 5pm. I am slowly warming my ginormous chunk of cocoa butter, which I figure will take the better part of the day . Everything else is measured out and covered. If any of that was measured wrong (checked twice out of fear and because my one lucid brain cell was afraid of making another mistake), I guess i will have 3 pounds of glop.

Fingers crossed everyone!

Oh my! I hope it all goes well. It's so annoying to get to measuring ingredients and realize you don't have enough of an oil. Your recipe sounds fabulous with mango butter, coconut milk powder, AND evaporated milk. I can't wait to see this batch.

The final list of ingredients was CO, OO, Castor, cocoa butter. Additives Sod. Lactate, evap milk, banana purée, coconut milk powder and coconut FO

evaporated milk? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. interesting. When do you add it? Trace? I'd love to know how this turns out. Sounds wonderful. Good luck!

sounds interesting, why dont you use your cocoa butter? i love it in soap, i need some, hey we're neighbors, im in mn. gonna get you butt kicked in football tonight???

Hey, don't feel too sad when Rodgers schools Favre on everything Favre refused to teach him. Look out waffling traitor, your backup QB is coming for ya!

THought I might come off the fence ont he whole CPHP thing and I can say with certainty, I am a CP gal. Not sure I even like this soap. We'll see. Hot soap always smells like butt.

The full version of Soapmaker3 keeps track of your oil inventory, it's awesome! It lets you know when you get low on stuff. You can set when you want it to let you know, (1 lb, 1oz, what ever you want!)

It still smells like butt today and I lightly scented it with coconut FO from MMS.

Honestly, it smells like a really bad tanning lotion. Ugh!

I will return to my CP and do some cucumber this weekend. It will no way be ready for that shower I am helping host...gotta figure out what to do.

I am on a bad streak. My soaps turn out to be a nice consistency, but they just give me a headache to smell them. I can't wait to get them to the basement to dry out so they are away from me.

I fear I may be developing an aversion to soaping! Help!

Jarvin: I really hope your soap turns out well after all you put into it. I hate to say this, but if it doesn't, I certainly enjoyed your post "Hot soap always smells like butt" . Please post a pic if you can.
