Hi does anyone have any advice for discounting coconut milk...I use it in most of my recipes and I just wanted to know if anyone had any tips

Thanks

Hello, Coconut Milk is about 73% water, so you can use more.
If your recipe calls for 14 oz water you can use 14/.73 = 19.2 oz of Coconut Milk
Roy

thanks I appreciate your reply

I wanted to know if I could use Less Coconut milk so that the soap could cure faster

I know that you can discount water down to 1.5 of the amount of lye

I wouldn't go so low because im still learning but I did want to try 2.5 to 1 (water to lye ratio)

soap cal uses 38% which is around 2.6-2.7/1

Since using milk can already be a bit touchy sometimes I was wondering if it was even wise to discount with it

Yes, you can discount. Just make sure that the amount of water in your coconut milk is at least as much as the amount of lye (1:1 ratio). This should be easy enough to calculate from the nutrition information on the side of the can. It can vary from brand to brand.
