Hi everyone! I'm Sarah and am new here, and have been making my own soaps for 5 years now. I'm looking for some help with making deodorant.

I am trying to replicate a store bought deodorant recipe (Raw Sugar brand's old formulation of Beach Rose and Aloe) as it is the only deodorant I've been able to find over the past few years that works for me AND doesn't cause a reaction. Their new formulation gives me hives. And I have never been able to make a homemade deodorant that actually works for me and lasts. Lol. So I've decided to source all of the ingredients from the Raw Sugar one and try to replicate it. I'm just not sure what ratios I should use for the ingredients.

I plugged in the ingredients list into chat gpt, and this is what it gave me back for one batch of deodorant.

Ingredients:
Arrowroot powder – 1 tbsp
Fractionated coconut oil – 1 tbsp
Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
Beeswax – 1 tbsp (this helps to solidify the deodorant)
Triethyl citrate – 1 tsp
Magnesium hydroxide – 1 tsp
Zinc ricinoleate – 1 tsp
Aloe extract – 1/2 tsp
Vitamin E – 1/4 tsp
Fragrance (essential oils or fragrance oil) – 10-15 drops

Does this ratio of ingredients make sense? I'm mostly unsure of how much to use of the triethyl citrate, magnesium hydroxide, and zinc ricinoleate as I've never used any of those in a recipe before. But also unsure of the ratio of all of the ingredients.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can give, and thank you for taking the time to read and respond. :)

Thank you so much!!

Hi Sarah - welcome to the forum! Not a dupe of your preferred deodorant, but this thread discusses a deodorant that has worked well for many of us. I have found it to be non-irritating. Maybe you will find something helpful there.
