You can keep that one all to your self.I have distance memories of a Mother who decided to try her hand at all sorts of teas and wines and being made to sample most of them which did include a particularly horrible brew of dandelion root and burdock tea l can still remember the taste now .The best one she came up with was a lethal brew of wheat wine which was responsible for half of our village being drunk and disorderly after one glass and my Father saying it was the best varnish remover he had ever had. :D

I don't know if this will help but a neighbor of mine actually eats the dandelion greens- she puts them in her salads and she said you HAVE HAVE HAVE to pluck the leaves and use them before the dandelion blooms- if it has bloomed its too late and the leaves will be horribly bitter- a dandelion leave will always be tangy and slightly bitter but not as bad then.

pops1- that is HILARIOUS about your mother's wheat wine- I take it you live in a small close-knit town then? Or at least did growing up?

Yes l did come from a small village in England that our family had been in for hundreds of years. It was at the farewell party that it happened ,we were on the way to Australia to live.Mum decided she would give everything away including the wine .I was 12 at the time and l remember a group of people making up a band with all the pots and pans and watched them staggering down the road all playing their instruments, luckily most of the residents of the village were at our house, they were making enough noise to wake the dead.
My Dad found out about how strong the wine was after somebody knocked a glass of wine over our polished table which by the way he had sold and the new owner hadn't collected(That's another story). The darn stuff not only took the polish off it started to eat the wood away in a very short time Dad thought he had found a way to make his fortune in the form of a new varnish remover.
The day everybody sampled Mum's wine is probably still talked about in our little village.
