I really want to make a salt bar but have been putting it off because I do not have a wire cutter. If I was to use only 50% salt do you think I could still cut with a normal cutter?

I wouldn't trust my wire cutter to salt bars - I used to cut them with a big ole knife. Now I make them in my Logan Bear or Kelsei divider molds or in my Tony's (Southern Garden??) individual molds.

I used 80% salt amount in mine and cut my bars after being in the mold for 2 hours. It was still very warm but I cut it with a pastry scraper no problems.

Regular cutter OK

I made salt bars for the first time. I suggest cutting when they are still hot (but firm).Too long and they will be to hard to cut, I learned this the hard way. ( had to rebatch)

I used my regular stainless steel cutter and no problem.

Good Luck

Ok, I poured it about an hour ago or more, do you think I should go cut now? I only used fifty percent salt so should I leave it longer?

eta - it is definitely too soft to cut, I know this because it is now dented :(

I made a 50% and it took about 12 hours to , probably took so long , because I peeked 500 times  It was firm at that point , not rock hard and I used my regular stainless soap cutter.

Kitn

Note to self: don't cut 50% salt bar after 2.5hrs. I checked on them this morning - so about 8hrs later and they seem good, I will know in future to leave the lower salt bars for longer  Will update with pics later today.
