crystal looking wax after first burn-does anyone know why?

I am using both Cargill3 and Golden Brands 464 and after I light the candles, use them and then blow them out, I'm finding the wax cools with a flake or crystal look to the wax. Does anyone have an answer for this?

Flake or Crystaline look to wax

There are two things that come to my mind.

1. The wax was too hot for too long in the melter

or

2. If the scent you were using, if you we using scent, did not bond well with the wax, ie scent not stirred long enough into wax before pouring, this can cause the tops to appeared flake and crystal.
