I made a salt bar last night, and I let it sit to long before cutting (I guess) so it crumbled on me (on the bottom). I read that is common but I want to know if there is any way to salvage the bar, I went pretty heavy on the salt. So should I mix some more lye/water & oils and add the crumbly mess and try again ??? I did a small batch.

I have never had success - even when I took out of mold after a short time. Many people do have success though. Next time I am going to try it with single cavity molds so i don't have to cut.
Good luck!

rebatching a salt bar has not worked for me. I would crumble up or shred the rest of the loaf and then add it into a new batch of soap.

Thank you, I was thinking that would work best. :) Ok, I've got some questions... I did 100% CO with yogurt like I had read up here. Would you just do another CO batch with no additional salt or a more basic recipe with a mixture or oils???

With a lot of salt, you need CO for good lather.

But maybe you can get away with 40-50% CO for the rebatch, if you must ...

You can do either/or. It really doesn't matter. I've added salt bar flakes/crumbles to a handful of varying formulas with good results each time.

IrishLass :)

Here they are, I bought a few molds to try incase cutting them didn't work. So here's both:

Another thing you can do with salt bars that are cut to late is make a facial scrub. grate the salt bar to a fine powder and add what ever you like! I like honey powder and yogurt powder.... Your face will love you. ;-)
