I want to make a creamy base for a diy exfoliator, can I combine a light oil and e wax to do this? What ratios?
Just needs to be creamy enough to easily spread on the skin.

Are you thinking something like St. Ives Apricot Scrub? I think I have a recipe in my files. I made it for my niece.

ETA: I didn't find the Apricot Scrub, but I did find this.

35% Oil (almond, macadamia nut, grapeseed, apricot kernal, etc.)
10% Butter (shea, cocoa)
11% Ewax
9% stearic acid

35% sugar (or other exfoliant)

Melt everything but the sugar together. Add sugar and stir for one full minute. Whip with a stand mixer for 15 minutes or so.

No, something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CSD7TDF/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 but without the enzymes

Its a very thick paste, kinda dry and it has fine micro abrasives. I ended up mixing 1 tbs e-wax, 2 tbs oil, a few drops of poly 80 and about 2 tsp of extra fine pumice. Waiting for it to completely cool so I can see how hard it is.

It feels really similar on my hand, maybe not as rough which is ok. I'll try it on my face in a few days. Hoping it works as well as the vasanti but be easier to use.

I just checked out the link and it mentions a gel base. I wonder if you could add in the additives to a pre-made aloe gel base such as this
https://essentialsbycatalina.com/aloe-gel-base

Hmm, weird it mentions gel. There is nothing gel like about the tube I have.
Its more like a thick toothpaste with grit in it.

A gel base might be nice to use though and not as drying. If the concoction I made doesn't work, I'll look into the gel.

This post my be closed but this is what I make as a gel based facial mask.
I use Carbomer 940 I neutralize this then add my clay and exfoiliants to this and add a preservative.
you can use the aloe base also from essential from catalina and add things to it. and then test the shelf life.

The mix I made is working really well but it is a bit too hard/dry. I've been meaning to melt it back down and add a little more oil and some EO. Unscented it doesn't smell very nice, like stearic.
It rinses off nicely and leaves my skin feeling super soft. Its also gentle enough to use daily.

my tumeric papaya facial scrub
i have in it
aloe water
carbomer
glycerin
silk
preservative
some clay enough to make an nice gel.
Im gonna find my formula and send it to you :)
