Hi. I am new to soapmaking and have been enjoying the experience so far. For my second batch I used Coco to color my soap but I left it unscented. I bought some additional spices that I would like to use for color: Ground Mustard, Turmeric, Paprika, and Ground Ginger. I was wondering if I leave these unscented do they have a smell in the finished soap. Will my soap smell like Mustard? Also if I do want to scent the soap will the smell of the spice combine with the "scent" I use? For example would I get a Mustard smelling Vanilla scent?
I'm not sure of the correct terminology in asking my questions so thank you for bearing with me and I have to say I love this forum your advice so far has been valuable.

I mostly use herbs for colorants and I haven't had any leave a scent. I have not used mustard....I've used the others though!

Ground ginger if added directly to the soap (instead of an infusion) has left a light scent of ginger that I've noticed. For the others, I haven't noticed anything. I haven't used mustard either though. Also, I usually infuse my herbs/spices in oil, strain them & use the colored oil in soap so I don't get the speckles. I've only had a few herbs/spices leave a scent that way.
