I don't know if I mixed up long enough. I put water and aloe vera gel together to make the lye solution. I then added it to my oils that had just been melting so everything was very hot. I didn't use a thermometer. So when I added the lye solution to the oils it became oily and lumpy and thick. I only mixed for a minute or two because it became thick and I didn't want it to not stick together in the mold. So do you think it'll still be soap and usable? I'm just not sure if I mixed it enough.

When you unmold it, unmold it into a glass casserole dish. That way, if it's not okay - meaning if you have some separation underneath - then it will all be in the dish and you can rebatch if you need to/want too. Ceramic or plastic would be okay to but NOT aluminum.

So you might get some oils and lye water that have separated.

It doesn't seem to be sweating. I just took it out of the mold so the sides are a bit sticky. Does it seem okay or will I have to rebatch it?

It really looks like you made a hot process soap with the high temps you used. Next time be somewhat aware of how high your temps are, as it can cause a nasty volcano. It also looks like a hot process soap now that it is unmolded. If there is no zap it will be fine just not real pretty.

I don't take temperatures either but it helps to know about it if there's no way of taking temps.... Which combo of fats need you to soap hotter, which ones need cooled lye and fats, when's a good temp to add lye without something going wrong, etc.

For example, if you knew what the effect would be of adding hot lye to hot fats you could have (I say could have coz sometimes you just never know lol) been prepared for the quick setting up of your soap. Research and practice is the key.

It does look like HP, and quite smooth for it too. Next time carefully bang your mold on your counter or floor to lessen the air pockets. Hopefully it doesn't zap. Show us when it's cut
