I'm thinking of trying coconut milk in my next batch of soap. Why ? Dunno, just cause it sounds fun :p

BUT, I have found thru trial and error over the last couple weeks that I much prefer to do soap CPHP rather than CP, so here's what I'm thinking... I've read that coconut milk will burn easily and I don't want that, so I'm wondering, if I use coconut milk as half my liquid, can I mix my lye/water, add it to my oils, and then later, not at the end of the cook but close to it, add the remainder of my liquid ( coconut milk ) ? Or would that totally muck things up ?

I'm far from an expert, but I made my first goat milk soap yesterday and had some of the same questions.

If you don't mind an un-gelled soap, I'd say try to prevent the gel with your coconut milk batch. I soaped my goat milk batch at room temp and then put my mold outside in the cold, then in the fridge for the night to prevent gel, and it turned out splendidly!

I think when you use any milks in your recipe you want to try to avoid overheating because in some cases the soap can expand, or the heat will burn the milk and make your soap stinky and ugly coloured!

Yes you can do that. Just make sure you don't go over 50% lye....it may not mix properly. And.....if you're dealing with concentrated lye.....use extra precautions.....it will burn you MUCH quicker.
