Hi,

I just opened a new container of Coconut Oil and instead of a nice uniform color it is mottled. It looks almost as if it was hot and some of it melted and formed little bubbles then cooled and left darker bubbles. Does that make any sense? The darker parts are more toward the center of the bucket.

I recently started buying from a new oil supplier and the oil is much cheaper than I was paying before. I also ordered Palm Oil from this place and that product is a little different too, grittier than with the past supplier.

Does it sound like the Coconut Oil is okay to use? Am I just getting an inferior product, a version of you get what you pay for? Or, should I be concerned about using it?

Thanks,
Stacie

I've gotten coconut oil like that. After much angst it was actually just fine.

I do believe it's from uneven cooling.

The LouAnna brand I get from Wal-Mart when I'm in a pinch looks like that more often than not and it always fine. I don't think it affects it at all, just looks funky...

i second (or third?) that its probably due to how it cooled... or could have been liquified and resolidified during transport due to temps outside.
