i made some beautiful pina colada soap.....when i cut it it looked gorgeous, off white w/ swirls of yellow orange which i colored w/ annato seed powder. i opened the box they were curing in a few days later to see the off white had changed to grey/brown......

i don't understand it.....they soap fine, smell great....but they look, well less than as wonderful as when i first cut them. i cut into the side of one of the bars, and yes, the inside is a much lighter color, the off white it originally was. funny, i've only had that experience w/ coconut milk, the soy milk soaps i've made all stay wonderfully milky white. any one care to share their knowledge and experience re coconut milk soaps and the color changing....?thx

Are you sure there is no vanilla in your fo that could cause discolouration?
Pina Colada is pineapple/coconut, coconut is one of those fo's that usually discolours.
I've never had coconut milk make the soap go a funny colour, if anything it usually makes it whiter.

Edited to say: Artisan we think on the same wavelength!

I have some bars of coconut milk soap here that are creamy coloured. No fragrance. When I initially cut this batch, it had a horrible green line down the middle and didn't smell real good. Now, it is just lovely.

I have to think it was the FO too , I use coconut milk in 3/4 of my batches and it never has gone off color . Sorry it happened to you .
I force myself to check the FO's out before I buy , if I don't I always pick ones with vanilla  . It is a good thing my bathroom is shades of beige 's and browns

Yes, I use coconut milk powder in many of my soaps and it always lightens the base colour nicely. I have used a coconut fo and have lovely tan soap colour with that....it is most likely the fo imho. Have you read any reviews on the one you used?

Tanya :)

yes, it must be the fo. i changed vendors of coconut fo and this was the first time i used the coconut fo from that vendor. previously i had used a coconut fo that didn't discolor at all.......i'll have to check the vendor's website and see if they mention anything about discoloration....i may have missed it. thx so much for the feedback. yes, i was expecting it to be a nice white color from the coconut milk
