Just wondering if anyone is using a blend of oils to wash ones face? I have read somewhere that you can use a castor oil and olive oil blend. I can't remember how long to leave it on for . So my question is how long to leave it on for.

I cannot tolerate olive - it's too "oily", but I like a blend of sunflower, jojoba, and castor.

I'm a dry flaky type with zits and this keeps it all under control.

Most often I apply oil and take it off with a slightly damp cotton washcloth. Sometimes, though, I'll actually wash it off with my tomato soap because I seem to need to get those flakes off somehow or they "build up".

Deda, I think it was you who told me about the oil cleansing method, it's fantastic.
I have oily skin, I suffer with hormonal breakouts, but I have dry patchy areas too. The oil cleansing method has really worked for me, it seems to have calmed down the areas that were prone to breakouts, but soothing my dry areas too. Occasionally, maybe once or twice a week, I will wash with a soap after oil cleansing, just because my skin is quite oily, and I want to make sure I am getting all that old oil off, I dont mind the new oil there, but i don't like the thought of old oil on my face. Does that make sense?
My fave blend for oil cleansing is sunflower, castor, and a dab of macadamia.

WOW! I have never heard of that, but it sure makes sense! I love that article! Do you use soap in the shower on your face? I made a face soap that I love, but this oil cleansing has me intrigued!

I get in the shower, let the steam open up the pores, then step out of the shower while I massage the oil, then get back in the shower and use a warm (hot) flannel, sometimes I will try to just stand under the hot water with the flannel on my face, it helps the steam get in the pores.
You should try it and give it a go.

wow I will have to try this out, I have really REALLY oily skin and my face breaks out randomly... it's annoying and nothing EVER works..

I use the castor and olive combo and leave it on for about 20 min followed by a gentle scrub. Makes an excellent blackhead buster.

I never use soap on my face - ever. Too old, getting closer to 50 every single day.

I use the oil cleansing method too and I leave it on for about 30 minutes then I use a really hot face cloth and place it on the upper 3rd of my face to absorb the oil, once it cools I rinse it and heat it up again, then place it on the next 3rd etc. until I have done all of my face. I do this about once a week and the rest of the time I wash my face with my Shea Butter Soap bar. My skin has never been so nice. Before I started making my own soaps I only used Witch Hazel to clean my face and then moisturizer right after. It worked but I sure like this a whole lot better!

So this is quite interesting - I'm curious - you just mix Sunflower, macadamia and Castor oil together and massage it into your face? Regular Sunflower oil?

My shoulders break out  and was wondering if I could use OCM there?
You sure can!

I use castor and jojoba for my OCM. I never use soap on my face either.
