Two quick questions for those more experienced candlemakers:

1.) How do you guys clean your soy wax instruments (bowls, spoons, etc.) without clogging the kitchen drain?? should I be cleaning them outside- but that would be quite hard w/o hot water, and especially in winter....:-?

2.) I just made several batches of candles and failed to add the manufacturer's suggested 3-6 TB per lb of Stearic Acid. What's the stearic acid needed for? The candles are setting up fine, will it effect the scent?

-thanks for reading!!

I wipe my equipment down with paper towels and use mold cleaner also. Stearic acid is used to increase hardness and help with scent throw. Your candles will be fine without it.

I wipe out any excess with a paper towel and boil the jug and throw everything in the boiling water for a soak then wash in warm soapy water in the sink, it's never clogged.
