Citric Acid & GSE

Hi

I read online that citric acid can be used as a preservative in lotions.
I was wanting to use that and Grapefruit seed extract in my next batch.
Can anyone tell me if citric acid ok to use either by itself and combined with the GSE, also how long of a shelf life can i expect with either?

Citric acid & grapefruit seed extract are not broad spectrum preservatives for bath and body products.
So if you use these as preservatives, you will most likely still get mold and bacteria growth in your lotion.

thank you for your reply, although I find this news disappointing.

I have been putting off purchasing a what i consider commercial preservative which i can get quickly i my area, now I'm feeling as though I must.

But before I do, what are other ways or items i can add and use in my lotions as natural preservatives?

I don't expect to have it for more than 3-4 weeks
