Chocolate soap

I made more soap - my first using a colorant and swirling. Ended up more like marbling on the top and bottom (I got distracted and poured the uncoloured part into just one spot!).

I used CO, OO, PO and rapeseed oil, added cocoa powder and baking chocolate (52% cocoa powder, sugar, etc - I need to check) at trace. The soap unmoulds quite well and looks okay except that when I first removed the saran wrap from the top, I saw very VERY tiny drops of oil on the surface (where a bubble used to be) (what could be the problem - sugar? Too little lye?...). There is no oil oozing from the soap (or is it too soon to say)?

I soaped at a higher temp (110-120 F instead of 100 F like the last time) and the soap got quite hot (I insulated it as well!). So I ended up with a really dark looking bar which I quite like. Note to self - I should get a sturdy container for my mould. My loaf come out fat on the sides because I had to move it around so the middle is thicker/wider than the edge. O'well...still got a good 11 bars out of it.

Thanks folks! It's unscented tho as I was playing more with getting the colour and marbling/swirl. Might add chocolate FO with mint or orange next time. XD

Looks great! Chocolate mint is a fav here! My chocolate orange just came out weird, so I might have to try again, smells so good in the food world that it should smell good in soap.

I make a lot of chocolate soap (I have about 30 lbs top grade dark belgian chocolate that I need to use up). I have made:

unscented - it is not a fast seller but it sells. It is my favorite unscented soap. I love what chocolate does to soap. Thicker lather, creamier and very conditioning.

scented with cinnamon infused oil. Sells twice as fast as unscented. The cinnamon scent is subtle but it lasts a very long time.

My last two are new scent combos. A minty scent and a spicy autumn scent (my own EO blends plus infused cinnamon oil). These were done using chocolate for the batter in confetti soaps. Both smell just wonderful. Still curing.

Re the tiny tiny dots of oil on the surface, it's been a couple of days and no sign of any more oils so it could have been a one-off thing.

It's official - I'm addicted to soapmaking. My hubs thinks I've gone nuts and I'm slowly running out of space to cure my soaps.

After four weeks of curing, here's the outcome of using chocolate in soap:

You get creamy lather!!!!

And it's got some staying power too!

This is why chocolate soap is my favorite unscented soap. it also feels really soft and conditioning to the skin. Nice soap, nice lather!

@Crafty Rose, I poured in one colour and then just poured in the other colour and swirled around & lifted up & pushed down with a spatula like crazy.

I might attempt this again just to see if I can replicate it so wish me luck!
