The cost of petrol here is now around $1.72 a litre and for premium fuel is $1.85. that's why the car fainted.
About $100 to fill up a small car.
That is about as much as we pay here, after conversion, give or take a few cents. They did say there will be a drop tomorrow though....The cost of petrol here is now around $1.72 a litre and for premium fuel is $1.85. that's why the car fainted.

So to get a little more finite in conversion, 6.50 AUD is about 4.75 USD - this is still higher than our current gasoline prices in most areas. However I did hear of a west coast area where the price is 5.00 USD per gallon; hopefully Virginia prices won't climb that high. Last time I filled up it was 3.18 USD per gallon. A portion of our price are state taxes and the tax varies by state, too.Don't forget that 1 gallon is about 3.78 litres. So it would be around $6.50 here a gallon. U.S. prices are a lot cheaper.
Hopefully all that will improve with time. We (humans) probably need to develop a comprehensive footprint scale. It's become obvious that we need to cut carbon emissions, but we need to balance that in a way that we are not being more toxic in other ways. AND improvements need to be affordable so that all can participate.Just paid $3.11/gal for regular at the DFW airport. It’s significantly less there if you aren’t paying the inflated price for buying the last gas available before turning in a rental car.
Regarding electric cars, I had a company car that was electric. Couple of things: the batteries work best if you live in temperate climates. That 100-miles-per-charge goes down to about 40mpc if your location is much over 95F or below 32F.
Also, the batteries need to be replaced every five or so years, to the tune of $5k or more. The batteries are filled with things that are extremely toxic to the environment, and require special disposal. My company ended up trading in the electric car as the battery was close to being defunct, and chose to purchase a high-mpg gasoline vehicle instead.
I must say that the whole experience turned me off to electric cars.
