I have about 7 lbs of 76 degree coconut oil, I was wondering if freezing it will damage the oil in any way. With summer coming and it's low melt point this seems like the best solution for a house with a ton of freezer space and very little cabinet space.

I have been thinking about that summer storage question also, but was wondering about the refrigerator. Is it a good idea to put things in the fridge? I don't have freezer space, but i do a dorm sized fridge that is not used much.

I have frozen some with no trouble. Grapeseed, sweet almond, apricot kernal, vitamin e, and lard I have froze with no trouble. Coconut oil has good shelf life that if you have a spot in your basement I would not worry about 7 lbs. I am not sure but I think air is what does them in the quickest. I have purchased some 35lb and 50lb liquid oils and I repack them into gallon jugs leaving almost no air space and keep them in my basement.

yeahh I agree, air and light are your WORST enemies for preserving oils, so a cool dark place like a basement or evil lair is the best place to keep them :)

Aw but I just put windows in my evil lair. Hmm... The garage will do. That or the deep freeze.

windows!?!?!?! thats the number 1 rule!!! cause then people can see in and watch you do your 'spearmints ;)

Now.... if theyre windows with ferret-sentinels with laser beams attached to their heads... thats a different story altogether.

evil lairs and ferret sentinels! My sons would so enjoy that. I however, have no evil lairs in my house, except possibly for the guys room, and therefore have to store my oils in the basement. But at least there are no windows in it. 8)

I do my experiment in the kitchen so techincally anyone who would come into the backyard would witness this mad scientist at work. However there are some very high hedges. I am an evil villian with style.
