Hello everyone,

I am starting a bath and body product business and I am trying to "perfect" my recipes. have been experimenting and researching for over a year now. Anyway, about a month ago I made a batch of bubble bars and sealed then in plastic bags. Well tonight I opened the bags to check the scent and I was met with the horrible smell of amonia like in urine. Then, a couple of weeks ago I mixed another batch using different scents and at first they smelled of ammonia until I blended in some other fragrances. The batch that I just opened tonight only contained pure essential oils. The other batch had one fragrance oil added to it. This really concerns me. I can't and won't sell my products until I am completely satisfied with them. Any ideas about this? I am also having a hard time "fixing"the scent in my products a lot of times just using natural ingredients. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's hard to say what the source of odor might be without knowing what ingredients are in there.

And essential oils are tricky, as they are not formulated to perform I. Our applications.

i keep mine in paper bags and the scent holds, perhaps it is the storage method?

Thanks

Thanks for your responses. I would think that the storage method might have been the cause, but when I first mixed up one of the batches, it smelled that way. One of the surfactants that I am using is Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate.
