Im looking into buying some soap making books, but would like to be sure that what Im buying is good and as comprehensive as possible. So what's your favorite soap book? :)

The Everything Soapmaking Book is one of my favorites. It goes through HP and CP, liquid and bar. I think it's a good starting point if you're interested in learning how to soap.

The Soapmakers Companion.

I did my first batch following the step-by-step instructions & using the suggested recipe, & it was a perfect batch.

My favorite book is "The Everything Soapmaking Book" but I also like "The Soapmakers Companion"

If you have to get just one....the Everything Soapmaking Book would be my first recommendation. It covers CP, HP, rebatching, M&P....soap geodes.....swirling, ribboning, making your own molds and cutters....it's just a great reference to have around and it's not expensive through Amazon.

And that's my next favorite. It's got lots of wonderful recipes. I bought it because it covers cream soapmaking, which I want to try. Well, whenever I find the time...

That's cool mandolyn.....my favorite soaping books and yours are the same.....just in different order. :)

The first book I bought was Smart Soapmaking by Anne L. Watson. I like the no-nonsense approach. I also bought The Everything Soapmaking book, The Soapmakers Companion and Soapmaking for Fun and Profit.

I made a successful batch on my second try using Anne Watson's book, and now I'm enjoying reading Soapmaking for Fun and Profit. I like the layout and format, it's an easy read AND it's informative.

What I like most about Anne Watson's book is that since it was published in 2007 it's current in it's information. It's good for beginners since it covers everything you need to know (in 95 pages) AND how to do it. However, since it doesn't cover everything, I'd recommend getting one of the other books for more detailed information.

Good luck!
