@LilianNoir I'm so sorry about your kitty, and happy that you got the planer, too.
Thanks. Not to derail the thread, but it's been... a heavy few months. (I'd say weeks but we had an issue with one of our cats right before this one got sick/showed symptoms. Luckily sick cat #1 healed up and is just fine.)
Apparently when I get overwhelmed and stressed and depressed I don't make ANY soap(or do anything but mindlessly play video games) so even though stuff is getting hard and heavy in real life, I'm glad to start getting my soap mojo back.

IrishLass I bought one of those but no way am I able to get it to do what you seem to achieve, I have fiddled with the blade but it just takes the edge off and noting more. I got the one from Lee Valley.

When I got mine, it didn't bevel as much off to my liking right out of the box, but I kept fiddling with the adjustment knob, trying out different angle depths while practicing on a few sacrificial bars of soap over and over until I got the angle I was satisfied with. You may need to just fiddle with it some more.

IrishLass :)

Thanks IrishLass, I may indeed need to re visit and play around more, I found that the blade either was not close enough so not doing anything or just seemed to take of a be regular bevel, I cant seem to get the lovely shaping you have achieved on my one for some reason, it must be me and I shall play around again, I have plenty of laundry bars which will lend themselves😉

No matter what you use please be careful.. cleaning my potatoe cleaner after bevelling last night I took huge chuck out of my finger...😥
Ouch. I did that last year with a mandolin while slicing potatoes. I nearly never use the guard that it comes with, and i guess i lost my train of thought and kept going lol. I sliced off the whole side of my ring finger next to my fingernail. I literally took that slice of skin and bonded it together with steri strips (like, i dunno, surgical tape). My boss kept telling me that it wouldnt hold and to give up and mourn the loss of the skin on the side of my finger lol.

Well, she was right lol. BUT, when that piece finally shriveled up and fell off, the cut was nice and clean and healed perfectly. You cant even tell now.

Done with the gorey details lol. But my point is, yours should heal fine too...

Got my fingers crossed for ya lol.
