I noticed one or two posts here by 'soap-veterans' that use beeswax in their soap, it's something that I have thought about adding to mine too, not only because I love the smell but also because I want to make honey soap.
:!: My q? is what (roughly) is, in your opinion, the ideal % of beeswax to add?

Many thanks -Trish

give us a little time, would ya?

actually I addressed this somewhat in a different thread. beeswax is not exactly the bees knees in soap. it suppresses lather big time tho it can harden up soaps if you have a problem formula (unfortunately formulas that tend to be too soft also tend to go rancid - something to keep in mind). some think it inhibits ash - hasn't for me, though.

ideal amount - bout 2%

 sorry carebear, but many thanks for answering my question - much appreciated :)

I'm with carebear...some also say that a 1% beeswax can inhibit soap ash. I'm not completely convinced about that. I've used it...don't see an incredible amount of difference.

I think you have to soap a little hotter too because beeswax takes more heat to melt it.

:D Thank you Soapbuddy, carebear and Stacey for your replies..I'm very thankfull for all the time spent and the great advice given in answering my questions..much appreciated everyone

Beeswax

Can anyone recomend the proper temps to work at if using beeswax?
And do you get any aroma from the BW?

Thanks,

Tait

I melt the beeswax with my oils, then let it cool down to about 110 degrees before combining with lye.
