Baking soap in the oven?

I have a soap recipe that calls for lye and oils. The recipe says to bake the soap at tracing and after I add spices, for an hour and a half covered, then scoop into mold. Do I really have to do this since I have a box mold?

No. You can pour it into the mold at trace and insulate or not. It will become soap. Just give it an extra couple of days to cut if you do not insulate.
