I decided to make a 5 pound batch of Lavender Lime soap today using the in-the-pot swirl. I got two batches of soap going - one uncolored, one colored with alkanet root. Everything was going great. The oils and lyes were cooled to 100F at the same time, the mix to light trace was spot on, the mixing of the two batters and the pour was beautiful. Got the mold put to bed under the towels and began to clean up.

Who can guess where this is going?

Yep, that there is lavender & lime EOs. :-( It was going so well I should have known something was wrong.

Oh no :(
It happens even to the best from time to time
As much as I love unscented soap I would either rebatc or chop it up and use as embeds.

Thanks for the sympathy and suggestions all. Confetti soap sounds like it might be nice, but I don't have a color that would contrast well with the alkanet colored soap.

Maybe rebatching with the EO added is the way to go, but I'm wondering if there is enough alkanet to color the entire batch. I'm hoping it won't just turn grey. A light purple would look nice. I'll find out tomorrow. :)

SWBMO votes for cute unscented.

That's more than cute, that's gorgeous! I wouldn't mess with that.

I have a batch that smells GREAT but turned out a nasty shade of pink that looks like raw chicken left out too long ... ICK!

I'm still debating if I should rebatch that or just keep it and hide it when company comes over.

^^ I tried that once, it turned out nice. just have to cut the embeds really straight (which I didn't do b/c the embeds were super soft....).

I vote leave some unscented and maybe play with others like Tienne suggested. they're just so pretty! all my ITP swirls have not looked nearly as nice!

ETA: I've done this before too. except I didn't have fancy swirls in the batch I was making, so I dumped my EOs in and gave everything a really good mix in the mold and it turned out ok...

A white bar with swirly purple cubes in it would be perfect! Those pink & yellow bars with the green shapes remind me of Tetris :)
