Phew finally the forum is working for me again, hasn't been working for me for days...

How does this recipe sound for a mild and gentle baby soap for my 11 month old?:

227g castor oil
227g calendula infused sweet almond oil
227g sunflower oil
227g coconut oil
57g white beeswax

330g spring water
130g lye

I also think calendula will make nice baby soap, I made some myself so we will need to wait and see if it is nice as I hope it is

I'd do a simple 100%olive oil Castile. Even at that age, gentle and mild is best. Plus if you haven't already introduced nuts to,the diet, I'd avoid the almond oil (my daughter is allergic to almonds, so I'm sensitive to that issue).

I agree with carebear. Of course any baby can be allergic to anything but I would stay away from shea, almond, calendula and other oils/additives that could cause allergies.

I do a baby soap that is 85% olive oil and 15% coconut oil. I color it naturally using baby carrot food and don't fragrance it.

Have you soaped with that high amount of beeswax before? I just ask because I'm never successful with soaping with beeswax...lol. I guess I'm just beeswax challenged.

Didn't notice the beeswax. Maximum 2% and even that much can be a pain to work with. More suppresses lather.

Do you ever get DOS with your 85/15 blend or do you add vit E also? I was planning on making some tonight but read about people getting DOS and soapcalc was down.

might be quite a high % of coconut oil - a lower % should make a milder bar
