Awesome cheap mold idea!

Sorry if this is already well-known (it might be, I'm new so wouldn't know), but I've found that 2L milk cartons make the BEST mold for a small 1 lb tester batch.

They are waxy on the inside so you don't need to line them (just rip the carton apart and toss it), and a 1 lb batch of oils makes perfect sized bars. I get four 1" bars from each batch.

Just thought I would share this info! I have been saving all my milk cartons for this and am loving not having to line my wooden mold!

a great slab mold idea?? KITTY LITTER BOX! The cheapest one at Walmart is like 2 bucks for the smallest.......i've even cpoped in one!

great idea! you must have cats! i've seen disposable pan liners that kinda look like cardboard...i wonder if they'd be sturdy enough?...hmmmm... lol! nothing is safe from a creative soaper!

Hey AshleyR, you are so right and just fyi......I actually cut out one side of the carton (left the top done up and punched two holes in the side I was removing to pour out the liquid first) and used it as a log mold on its side. Of course, I had one interesting :roll: end - sort of a pyramid when cut off! - but I was able to texture the top surface like in a log mold and it was so easy to unmold when done.

I placed it in a larger cardboard box before I poured and used rolled up hand towels to keep the sides nice and straight so they wouldn't bow out with the weight of the soap batter. Insulated really well too and gelled right out to the edges
