I made it a few hours ago and it kind of turned brown. I'm hoping that once it cures it will be more greenish looking. But, Arimara, you are right, it is such a small sacrifice to make. Minuscule, in fact, that it is hardly noticeable in my avocado eating world. Speaking of eating avocados...
It really will not go green, but a light tan. I always add in some green oxide to give if an avocado green color.

Heh! The hoops we jump through to make avocado soap look like it's got real avocado in it! :)

Living in the midwestern USA, avocados are a specialty item and it would get pretty expensive to eat one a day, especially when they're out of season. I'd love the chance to try it sometime. Also I'd enjoy sampling varieties other than the usual Hass, but it's not likely to happen where I live in rural Iowa.

Hubby had never eaten an avocado before I insisted he try one, early in our relationship. He's now as hooked as I am. Good thing -- I'd hate to have to hurt him.

I have used avocado oil in soap, but have yet to try the puree. I think I would have to weigh the pros and cons of putting a ripe, lovely avocado in a batch of soap vs. the pleasure of eating it.........

I totally understand. I made seven bars of soap using 69 grams of puree. I was thinking how many sandwiches I could smear with that or how many chips I could dip... But, I gave in to the curiosity. I'm really not sure it was worth it. However, I will find out in six weeks or so.

To be really honest girls, I would just use avocado oil if you have it available. Can't say the puree brings that much to the party to waste a good edible avocado, but is good label appeal. Again we must remember I live in very close proximity to the trees. Mom has a gorgeous Fuerte tree which are by far my favorite avocados. But then that is what I grew up with. As a child my mom had 13 trees in the backyard and paid her property tax with avocados. Here is an article about the Haas avocado that we also have here in Whittier. They are good but in my opinion not as good as Fuerte.

I regularly use avocado oil in my soap. More often than not. A soap that was on my to do list was avocado puree added. I made it with puree, avocado oil, coconut milk and scented with a eucalyptus EO/FO blend and love it. It is a slightly softer bar with good creamy and fluffy lather. DH and I are on a road trip so I can't check notes, but I think I treated the puree as an additive. Bought two and ate one with fresh tomatoes on toast. My go to pre yoga snack. Post yoga is popcorn and wine.

Did you put a little bit of lemon juice in the avocado to try and keep it green like someone suggested?

I made an avocado soap too - used one avocado and filled the remaining liquid with coconut milk. I also added silk peptides. It took about 8 weeks to cure but omagosh! It's one of my new favorites. I will be hoarding 69 cent avocados in my freezer to make more!
