I was trying to eke out the last of my shea butter so I adjusted my 2 lb recipe for 2.5 lb (I also have a 3 lb version but I knew I didn't have enough for that).

Unfortunately when weighing the oils I was 50g short of avocado oil - didn't see that one coming. What can I sub it with? What should I be comparing, SAP value mostly or all the other attributes? It's SAP value is .133 I am wondering if I can just put in 50g of olive which is .135? I would prefer to use something which is already in my recipe. The lye is mixed, and the oils are mixed already.

Should I just leave it all sitting there until I can get more avocado oil? I don't really want to ruin my perfect formula! And I just don't feel like going to the local shops and paying through the nose either when my husband works next to a Costco.

I might then. I hope I won't notice, it's my shampoo bar. I am way behind in my soap-making for the Christmas market and would like to get this one in the mold today - I only have one mold.

I don't have a perfect answer for you but when I run my favorite recipes through soapcalc and replace my avocado with sweet almond or rice bran it seems there is only slight variation in the numbers.

Honestly I would rerun the recipe through soapcalc with any of these oils to fill the gap and you will likely be fine.
