I was wondering how different apricot kernel oil is to almond oil in soaps? Do they both provide about the same properties? Is one darker than the other? Does apricot kernel oil have a strong almond scent and does it remain after saponification?

What percentage of these should be used in soaps? Is 5-10% enough to add some of the properties from these oils to the soap?

Thanks

My sweet almond oil doesn't have much of a scent. Sweet almond oil is much cheaper than apricot kernel oil. Both oils contribute to stable lather, both are used as an emollient and are moisturizing. I don't use either in my soaps, I save them for lotions, scrubs and creams.

From my supplier, SaffireBlue, the apricot kernel oil is quite a bit cheaper than their sweet almond oil.

My apricot kernel and sweet almond are also smell-less. I only use them for facial soaps, lotions/creams.
