If so, what are your thoughts?
Do you use light or pro?
60 and 100 dollars respectivly seem awful pricy for what (SEEMS) like a glorified spreadsheet?

Absolutely well worth it, I bought the pro version right off the bat, if you want to spend hundreds if not thousands of hours duplicating the features in a spreadsheet then go for it - or you can pay a wonderful developer for what he's accomplished (and probably have a better finished product in the end). You can get it for cheaper somewhere, let me dig up the link.

ETA here it is, from Nature's Garden Candles. $89.10 instead of $99.

I absolutely love my Soapmaker 3 and also went with the pro version. I get to see what effects different oils will have before wasting my time making the product. But I think what I like most about the product is that I get to put all my business expenses in...not just the product to make the soaps but things like craft show booth expense, utensils, and etc. So at the end of the year, I just print it out and do my taxes with ease. I may have to change somethings if I did not label it right but beats the price of Quickbooks that does not give me an idea of how my soap will turn out.
The only flaw is in myself waiting to long to put receipts in and having to look all over the place and in emails to find them. And keeping a folder in my purse does not work for me. I don't carry purses. lol

nope, i just had a quick peek to their web and it says not compatible with MAC :(
i do have windows installed in my MAC, but i rarely use it. i find it annoying to switch b/w the 2 op systems if i have to install it in windows :(

Wow, it is sad that it is only compatible with Windows. It is not even compatible with the Surface RT but I wonder if it compatible with the Surface PRO or they just did not update the site after the PRO came out. I was planning on purchasing a Surface PRO to replace my desktop and ipad. I am so glad this thread started or I would have bought the Surface and realized too late that I would not be able to use Soapmaker with it. I am going to email them to see if it is not compatible with any Surface or just the Surface RT.

You might be able to run it in a Windows VM.

what is windows jvm?
i am running windows in my mac with bootcamp.

I have the Pro version and after inputting everything, I love it. I have to admit, it was eye opening when I realized how much I have into my "hobby."

hmmm, this software is growing on me. my notes, records, recipes, bookkeeping are becoming larger by the day and they are a mess :(
seriously, i think 99 is worth it in the long run, considering i can't make my own spreadsheets, and this program seems a like a good solution to put everything into 1.

Err. That should have said VM (virtual machine) not JVM (Java virtual machine). Sorry, work broke through into soap for a minute.

A virtual machine is basically a software emulator of a computer. They work pretty well. You run your VM software in OSX, and it starts the "computer" in a window, where you then install Windows.

It's not a good solution for gaming, video editing, etc. But for low CPU processes like book keeping, inventory management, word processing and the like, it's a pretty good way to keep access to niche apps in Windows while still running on Mac or Linux. (Or vice versa, if you run a Linux VM on a Windows machine.)

ah okay, thanks for the explanation (comp illiterate here :D)... the thing is i already have windows installed in my mac. i can just switch OS thru a few presses of buttons, but it's still a pita, lol

why can't they make a mac version? :( i used to be a windows girl a long time ago, but it was giving me too much headache with the hangs/viruses i finally quit it altogether.
