Anyone use Brambleberry's 40/42 lavender e.o.

I was curious if anyone has had experience with Brambleberry's 40/42 lavender e.o. and what they thought of it? Strong? Weak? Recommended amount used? Any input would be great!

I have not used B&B's but I really like the one from New Directions Aromatics. I use Lavender up to 7% in soap. Lately I have mixing 50/50 with a lavender fo from soapsupplies.net and it smells very much like my Bulgarian Lavender that I use for leave on products

I use it and love it. I get the fragrance level I want from my soaps by using 4-5 ml PPO. The scent is exactly what lavender should be and is fabulous as a stand alone fragrance.

I've used it and really like it. It is great in soap and any other B&B recipe. If using in a shampoo, lotion, body bar, bath bombs, etc... it takes very little. Of course for soap, use the recommended amount. Oh, and it maintains aroma well in soaps! (It also smells great in any air freshening recipe you can come up with. I have it everywhere.)

4-5ml ppo only? Really? Or was it a typo? If not a typo, then i wanna get some too. If that little alone can leave a scent, i am all for it!

Not a typo at all, I use around 20 ml in 2000 grams of oils. I have bars that are well cured and still have great scent to them. I will add that I don't like a heavy scent in my soaps but I do like to smell the scent and I have found I get a good balance at this level, not too heavy, not to light.

Thank you or the responses. I received a bottle of it that I had ordered and plan to use it today. I wondered if I had to use a lot or if it was strong, and I didn't need so much. Seven, that encourages me that you don't have to use a lot to get a good scent as essential oils are spendy!

me on the other hand, like strong scents but still, even if i gotta use double (40ml on 2kg of soap) the amount, that is still a low amount in my book.

yep, they are lavender is my best selling scent, and the EO i got before was not so good (it was cheap though, lol), at 3% of oil weight, the scent disappeared before curing was even finished.

right now i am buying lavender EO from a few different suppliers. let's see which one has the best one. also, there are quite a few of lavender farms here around melbourne, most of them sell lavender oil. but at $180/litre it is quite steep.

Don't forget to make your own lavender water using lavender buds. I take the amount of water I need for my soap recipe and put it in a container. Then I take a tablespoon of lavender buds, put them in a ziploc baggie, then pound them with a hammer to mash them and get them to release their oils. Then I put the crushed lavender buds in the water container with the water, shake it up a few times and refridgerate until I am ready to use it.

You can make it the same day or ahead of time. Every now and then I reshake the water. The lavender water smells heavenly. I use it to make the lavender scent pop in my soap. I can't explain it but it makes your lavender soap smell better and more natural than just using EO and FOs alone or together. Now I use lavender water, EO, and FO together. I need less EO/FO with the lavender water and save money. I get the lavender buds at my local health food store for pennies for an ounce. I simply strain the lavender water through a fine mesh sieve before use.

I do very much like Brambleberry's Lavender, but am trying from Bulk Apothecary this time because I get my orders faster. Brambleberry is on the opposite side of the country, so it can take two weeks to get my orders from the time I place them. The last post making lavender water gave me a good idea. I use oat milk with my lye for my lavender recipe, and I might just throw in some lavender buds in the blender with my oats for some extra freshness!

CandyBee, I just made lavender water! I added buds to my water and used my stick blender to mix it up good! The water turned a beautiful lavender color and smells great! I will let sit overnight and then strain. Thanks again for the tip!

I love the way you think! Why not add oats to my lavender water?!! If you soak them overnight you get lavender oatmilk. Sounds wonderful!! Brilliant idea!!

Yours turned lavender color? Mine goes kind of grayish lavender. But it doesn't discolor my soap at all. I still add a bit of lavender mica for color.

BTW-- I have made my lavender water as much as a week beforehand. I just give the container a good shake everytime I pass by it. But I do like to chill it before I make soap because I like soaping at room and low temps.

Yes, it really did turn lavender which surprised me because I was expecting a rather yucky color. I purchased a good quality dried lavender from BB which was bright and pretty, so I think that made the difference. I just checked my water after letting it sit overnight and it's now more of a reddish purple brown color. It smells really nice!
