I made a batch years ago, and I think I put patchouli in there as a base, to hold the scent, but I'm out of patchouli.

So I made a batch several weeks ago, with litsea cubeba, orange, black pepper and lemon eo's. All I smell is the litsea/lemon - can't detect rosemary at all.

Does anyone know if rosemary will hold by itself? I would like to really be able to smell the rosemary.

It's a pretty penetrating, camphorous scent so I'd think it would hold great by itself, like peppermint or eucalyptus.

I've never tried it alone, but it is wonderful (and noticeable) blended with peppermint, and with peppermint and eucalyptus together.

Thanks you two. I just finished my small, 15 bar batch. To 3 pounds of oils I added 2 ounces of roseemary eo. That ought to hold it.

I made a rosemary citrus that was a crowd pleaser.....unfortunately I find the scent disappears after a few months.

I just recently made a batch where I infused about 20oz of Soybean oil with fresh rosemary in the crock pot. I put it on low and swapped the old spriggs for new ones every 4 hours or so. The rosemary smell was SUPER strong and a bit overwhellming in the oil at first. (the finished infused oil, btw, needs to be kept in the refigerator) BUT the soap! it has the very pleasant and obvious rosemary scent is has held for more than a few months now.

I make a Rosemary Mint bar that I have a tough time keeping in stock but I'm using ground rosemary and ground mint but since the scent stays with the herbs in CP it would seem to me that it should hold steady as an EO?

It looks good, but I'm finding the scent weak. I like strong smelling soap initially, cuz I know scents fade after time. I'll put the batch into a plastic lidded box as soon as it dries a few weeks, and hope it stays rosemary - scented. Sometimes, I add a cloth with the eo spilled onto it in the box with the soap, to encourage it to stay.
