Thanks to @earlene, @dibbles and @HowieRoll for pointing me in the direction of some techniques to try! This batch was created with an alternating side pour of batter that had stripes of other colors poured into the funnel pitcher. Earlene was right about it not being the way to get the thin rhythmic layers I wanted, but I still love what happened. The center soap in the back shows the crosscut of the bar. I way hoping the pours would layer across from the alternating sides, but instead they converged in the middle and forced the soap up. The bars on the right show the center line cuts that are parallel to the long wall of the mold. The bars on the left are the outer walls of the soap against the long edge of the mold. Hopefully these look like rocks/slate/mud to everyone, even @DWinMadison :)

And @Zany_in_CO this is the batch I almost rebatched! So glad I didn’t do that. It feels perfectly fine now. Thanks for the encouragement!

My two favorites are the forefront Right and the center rear soaps. I'll bet they are all going to be gorgeous after cleaned up a little bit.

Now I need a soap planer and a beveler! Or maybe my geologist friends won’t care if the soap looks a bit rough :)

I love the one in the back, too. It’s not what I was trying for, but I’m keeping the technique in my toolbox. I think it’s ash that made what almost looks like a coneflower.:)

I'm excited to click when I see any post from you that starts with mud hehe. This one is very cool.. I think in this case the ash works.

If we partnered we'd be Mud & Stone lols.. Most my soaps end up looking like some kind of rock/stone

I especially love all of the “stone” pattern swirls you’ve done. They look like marble to me. I have some re-batched soaps that I like to think look like granite (and another one that looks like Spam from a can...and why I’m saving it I do not know...)
